Stash Treasure Trove Find: Stila Eyeshadow in Diamond Lil

Sundays are usually my lazy-makeup days when I resort to minimal makeup. But today I decided to change things up a bit and take my time to revisit my current makeup stash.

Lo and behold, I came across my Stila Eyeshadow in Diamond Lil hidden all the way in the back corner of my MUJI drawer (MUJI reviews here and here)—like as if it was put there on a timeout. A two-year timeout because it’s been at least two years since I last used it. And I ask myself. “Why did I forsake this little gem???”

I feel so bad for neglecting this baby, especially because it truly is top-of-the-line quality (which I will get to). It just sort of got lost in the crowd for nearly two years before I rediscovered its star power. This is why I enjoy doing these stash treasure trove find posts because I get to reacquaint myself with my current makeup arsenal and re-ignite my love for some of them like this one!

Stila’s much acclaimed Eye Shadow Pans offer silky, long-wearing color that enhances the eyes. The soft, velvety formula may be worn wet or dry for controlled intensity and versatility. Use your favorite shade alone for a soft wash of color, or blend and layer for a dimensional look.

Each high-quality formula is packaged in a slim, and simplistic pan. This allows you to create your own kit that can be changed and rearranged depending on your current shade choices.

Eco-friendly and biodegradable, this compact features a magnetic clasp to secure to the eyeshadow pan and is designed to be refilled with your next must-have shade.

Stila describes Diamond Lil as a “shimmering metallic platinum,” but I honestly find it to be a more complex metallic color.

This is a very gorgeous shimmery grey/taupe color which comes off a little subtle olive undertone in certain lights. Depending on what kind of lighting you’re in, when I wear it, it varies around the dark gunmetal silver-taupe-olive range.

Diamond Lil is one of those versatile shades that you can use for both day or night make-up—it looks great paired with a smoked out black liner and thick lashes. But the real beauty is how truly sophisticated this shade is.

As soon as my eyeshadow made eyelid contact, I was blown away by its superior ability to blend away so effortlessly. It blends away like butter as it melts away into your skin, thanks to it’s great buttery, creamy texture and color pay off. It’s super pigmented so a tiny bit goes a long way. And it literally lasts all day without creasing (no word of a lie—it lasted +10 hours this past Sunday).

I was mentally having a discussion in my mind with my eyeshadow and immediately thought to myself “Hello, where have you been all my life?!!!” It was like my eyelid and brain were having a simultaneous ‘eye-gasm‘—if that’s even possible.

From now on I promise just like in that iconic scene from Dirty Dancing when Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze) enters the room and rescues Baby (Jennifer Grey) from a table in the corner with her parents and says “Nobody puts Baby in a corner.”—his proclamation of love.

Well in this case, I’m also proclaiming my love for Stila’s Diamond Lil and from now on this “Baby” will never be put in the corner, but instead be kept in the front-of-the-line with all my everyday makeup arsenal.

So now that I feel like watching ‘Dirty Dancing’ again, how can I not end this post off with the ever classic scene where Johnny takes Baby to the stage and they dance their last dance, “Time of My Life”. Enjoy!

Thank you for reading my blog.😊
