Victoria Beckham unveiled her Fall 2014 collection bright and early this past weekend (February 9) in New York City during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2014. Team Beckham was also in full effect as the entire family (impeccably groomed, I might add) gathered round the front row to support Mommy’s big moment and to see her latest collection.
Although the Beckhams are one of the most fashion-forward humans on the planet, and any spotting of David Beckham with his brood gives us major baby fever, Victoria Beckham’s fashion shows are always one of my favorites to look out for. Get ready for some real wholesome family goodness and cuteness.
David Beckham smiled proudly wearing a yellow tie, blue blazer and grey trousers as two-year-old Harper sat comfortably on his knee, the perfect little cheerleader and fashionista, in a little navy blue dress with sheer sleeves and nude flats. Her hair was perfectly styled in a sleek top knot with a little bow.
The couples’ 3 handsome sons, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz sat next to the retired footballer as they waited patiently for their mother’s fashion show to begin. Brooklyn, 15, went for a classic style in a black suit and tie and his hair coiffed into a vintage quiff. Romeo, 11, looked dapper in a khaki green trench coat and wore a black jumper over a polka-dot shirt. Cruz, 8, wore a black trench coat like his brother Romeo, with a patterned shirt, black jeans and boots.
At one point, proud husband and papa Becks snapped a few selfies of himself and the children as they waited before seeing all of the runway looks. As the five family members took their place, head of the family David made sure everyone was well behaved as the show began.
The designer debuted her fall 2014 collection which was a fresh mix of the classic VB we’re used to seeing as well as some out-of-the-box styles. On the runway, Victoria Beckham presented a fall collection based on the idea, in her words, that “Everything is not what it seems.”
“It’s all 360 degrees — nothing is flat,” she said in a post-show interview backstage. “You look at a structured coat from the front, and then from the back you see this beautiful pleat. Or you’re looking at a dress, and then the whole back is missing.”
Victoria Beckham’s fall-winter 2014 collection was a lesson in the modern woman’s wardrobe with an outing of tailored coats, loose-fitting trousers and demure skirts. The collection was almost entirely black and white and infusions of red, with an emphasis on ruffles and pleats, and a fondness for a single gold chain draped across a garment.
Surprisingly, print was a star on the runway with slightly psychedelic swirls and splashes on display. The colorful effects played well against Beckham’s streamlined silhouettes with pleated skirts and ruched tops.
Here are the 3 designs from her collection that really stood out for me (refer to image below):
From left, the black oversize coat, loose blouse and slouchy trousers is Beckham’s nod to her signature menswear-inspired silhouette. Basically, this is the VB uniform — and the chic factor is way, way, way up there. Next, the red coat dress also is an oversize style we’re used to seeing from the designer, but I love how she paired the look with some embossed brogues — not sky-high heels — for its runway moment. Rounding out the group, this white Grecian-inspired gown is something that feels out of Beckham’s wheelhouse (its hard to picture her in the flowy design), but I love the feminine vibe.
Beckham said she was trying to incorporate changes in her clothes, but not so much as to alienate her regular customer. “It’s about satisfying my sense of creativity, but also giving our customer what she wants,” she said.
And because I couldn’t resist…one last picture of Harper. The adorable toddler was caught during an inopportune moment picking her nose, but she’s so cute it doesn’t even matter.
Victoria hit the runway at the conclusion of her presentation of her Autumn Winter 2014 Collection, rocking a longsleeve black frock and matching pumps.
Before her big show, the former Spice Girl shared a “beautiful message from my babies” on her Instagram account. “Good luck, Mommy. Love, David, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper xxxxx,” the sweet card read. A message like that can make any mom feel like they can conquer the world:)
Thank you for reading my blog.😊
Definitely one of the most stylish families to date—would you agree? What do you think of Victoria Beckham’s designs?
