I’ve always loved the timeless and classic pencil skirt which never goes out of style, has a straight cut that is flattering on all silhouettes and secures sophistication whatever the occasion.
The value of the age-old pencil skirt is perhaps best realized in its ability to take you from day to night. It works like a charm for that boardroom meeting and after-hours to just plain hanging out. Yep, it’s just as in vogue as ever. The statement piece has a colorful history, prim and proper in the ’50s, party-hardy in the ’80s, and it has no plans of stopping anytime soon.
Which is what I’m getting to—the pencil skirt doesn’t have to be saved for the office. If you want to go for a minimalistic approach when wearing your pencil skirt, just by pairing yours with a simple T-shirt and heels, you can give this classic silhouette a modern update and take this sophisticated style from work-wear to everyday wear.
Despite the simplicity of the components of the pencil skirt and T-shirt combo, you can still make it look posh and chic. Just take a look below—and you will agree. No retro wardrobe is complete without the classic pencil skirt. If you don’t own a pencil skirt, you should!
Thank you for reading my blog.😊
Are you a fan of pencil skirts?
I love this combination! It’s dressy and casual all at once!
Yes! Can’t go wrong with this combo—you get the best of both fashion worlds!😊
Love this classic combination – especially that floral skirt with the gray v-neck!! I have a surprisingly hard time finding pencil skirts that fit really well, however, but I am always on the hunt! 😉
Lately I’ve been turning to the stretch jersey long tube skirt kind (with elasticized waist band)—they definitely give the same silhouette and are soooo comfy!
Yes, that’s exactly what I’ve been looking for!! But I have quite the, uh, assets that make it hard to find one that’s not too tight and still fits at the waist haha! 😉
Really adore this post and overall look. Especially love the inspo photos you chose to display. Definitely gonna have to try this after I have baby #2 and get back in shape 😉
Thanks for visiting! Glad you enjoyed the post. It’s such an easy combo to put together, and so comfy. Happy baby!
Love the rocker chic ensembles! Great way to play up a basic T with some sequin and floral skirts 🙂 – Lena
Yes! Rocker chic definitely sums it up!

Pencil skirts are so hot!!!!! You can never go wrong with them!!!!
You got that right! Funny, i just pulled out an old sequined pencil skirt from my closet the other day, which i bought—get this—about 15 years ago!!!! And its STILL in mint condition. I plan on wearing it on New Year’s Eve. Now that’s what i call a classic piece! Wishing you an amazing New Year!!!!
